Our Mission

Untapped Leaders is a woman of color-led leadership development organization. Our mission is to challenge and transform the traditional leadership landscape by empowering and elevating the voices of historically underrepresented professionals. We aim to redefine effective leadership, moving away from conventional norms and towards a more inclusive, diverse, and authentic leadership model.

A Visionary in Leadership

As a seasoned facilitator, writer, and speaker, Dr. Jenny Vazquez-Newsum's passion for leadership began in her youth and has since shaped her life's mission

Jenny has worked with 500+ leaders ranging from established executives at large corporations to high school students beginning their leadership journeys -- witnessing the untapped capacities that exist across all stages in career paths. Through her prior work as Vice President of Leadership Training and Programs at Coro Southern California, Jenny designed and facilitated cohort-based programs for leaders across all sectors and industries.

Meet Dr. Jenny Vazquez-Newsum

  • Interested in digging deeper into the limitations of current leadership rhetoric and bringing in the voices of the often-unrecognized leadership contributions of BIPOC and marginalized leaders, Jenny launched Untapped Leaders to create a space for those contributions to be named, validated, and amplified. Having studied and facilitated leadership frameworks for the past two decades, Jenny realized most all frameworks are not developed by nor for leaders of color. As a result, Jenny designed the Untapped Leadership framework. 

    Jenny holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, an M.P.A from New York University, and an Ed.D from the University of California - Los Angeles.
